Tuesday | We will meet at the airport at 3.30pm for our Air Malta flight departing at 5.30pm and arriving in Krakow airport at 7.55pm. On arrival we are transferred to our central 3 star hotel. Optional dinner at hotel and we rest for the night. 

Wednesday | We will start the day by going on a half-day optional city walking tour accompanied by our local guide. This city was the capital of Poland and a first indication of its story was found in the year 965. In the following 5 centuries, Polish kings were crowned and buried in Krakow. In the year 1978, UNESCO declared this city as a World Heritage site. Amongst others we will visit the Old Town, the Royal Route, the Jewish District, the Wawel Royal Castle, the Cathedral and the St. Mary Church. In the afternoon we will have some free time to relax and in the evening we will have optional dinner at the hotel. Afterwards, those who wish can join the tour leader to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere of Krakow by night. 

Thursday | After breakfast, we will go on our full-day optional excursion to Zakopane, a town lying in the Tatra National Park in the heart of the magnificent Tatra Mountains. These mountains extend to Poland’s and Slovakia’s border. Zakopane is a famous skiing resort, where it is highly visited by tourists both in Summer and in Winter. Together with the tour leader, we will visit the modern church of Our Lady of Fatima. We will see various traditional buildings and houses and a small museums of arts.Your sightseeing tour of the town will include a funicular train ride to the top of Mount Gubaówka where you will enjoy a panoramic view of the Tatras. Optional dinner at hotel.

Friday | The morning is free to enjoy the beauty of this city. We will later go on an optional excursion with a difference taking us to Auschwitz and Birkenau. Here we witness one of the most memorable lessons of modern European history. During our visit we’ll see the flower strewn Death Wall, the national memorials, the rail line and remains of the hundreds of barracks, a testimony to the number of lost lives through Nazi activities across occupied Europe. The guide will show us both camps whilst giving a detailed explanation. Optional dinner at hotel.

Saturday |  Today we will go on a half-day optional excursion to the Wieliczka Salt Mines, one of the oldest in all of Europe. Over the centuries, devout and superstitious miners have carved fabulous figures, monuments and altarpieces out of its salt walls. These amazing works have earned the Wieliczka Salt Mine a place on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. Back in Krakow, we will have the rest of the day free for some personal sightseeing or shopping where one can opt to visit the Galeria Krakowska Shopping Mall. Optional dinner at hotel.

Sunday |  This morning we will go on an optional excursion to Wadowice. The visit will include the entrance to new multimedia Museum of St. John Paul II in His house of birth. While there we see the Pope’s monument erected in front of the gothic Parish Church and also visit this church where the Vicar of Christ was baptized, served as an altar boy and prayed daily in front of the picture of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. We ill have some time for souvenir shopping. En route to Krakow we will visit Kalwaria Zebrzydowska with its Basilica dedicated to Our Lady of the Angels and an important place of devotion in Poland. Optional dinner at hotel.

Monday  l  On today’s optional excursion we will go to Czestochowa, a town of special importance to St. John Paul II. He stayed there six times as Pope and chose it as the place for the 6th World Youth Day. This destination is visited by hundreds of pilgrimages every year. Its focal point is the Chapel of the Blessed Virgin and its miraculous icon of the Black Madonna. We will visit the Monastery and the church build on Baroque style. Optional dinner at hotel.

Tuesday | We board our coach and on our half-day optional excursion we head to Lagiewniki Hill to visit the Sanctuary of the Divine Mercy which St John Paul II consecrated in 2001, and the tomb of Suor Faustina. En route to our hotel we drive through and stop in the former Jewish District of Kazimierz. The afternoon is free to enjoy Krakow centre until we later proceed to Krakow Airport for our Air Malta flight departing at 8.40pm and arriving in Malta at 11.10pm.
