Sunday 8 December | We meet our leader at the airport at 5.15am for our Air Malta flight to Vienna departing at 7.15am. On arrival at 9.20am, we head towards our hotel in Vienna. Since check-in is normally in the afternoon, we will go for a full-day optional excursion to discover Vienna and the Viennese Christmas Markets. We start off in front of City Hall, an unforgettable highlight for those eager to get into the spirit of the season even more! The unique backdrop gives this market a charm of its own, and the delicious aromas are sure to lull all visitors into the seasonal joy. We will later explore the baroque lifestyle and traditional handicrafts at the popular Christmas Village at Belvedere Palace (entrance to the Palace is extra). Set against the glorious baroque residence, the palace is one of Vienna‘s most beautiful and significant sights. More than 40 Christmassy decorated market stalls offer traditional handcrafted goods, elaborate Christmas decorations and special culinary delights.

Monday 9 December | Today we go for an optional full-day excursion to Bratislava. We will see the most important places and historic sights of the city, starting from the impressive Opera House, the attractive Main Square with the city’s oldest fountain and the medieval Town Hall, while driving through the Old Town area. We will also find the Christmas markets here, made up of more than 100 stands offering local handmade wood crafts, glass and leather goods. We will also be able to taste various delicacies such as sausages, soups, pancakes, biscuits and much more! We then proceed towards the landmark of the city – Bratislava Castle, picturesquely situated over the Danube River. From there we will experience some beautiful panoramic views over the river and the whole city. In

Tuesday 10 December | Our full day optional excursion will today take us to Linz, the capital of Upper Austria. Austria's third largest city has wide variety of modern museums, concert halls and art galleries, as well as more than enough sights and history to make the city a good choice for a visit. Linz also offers some gorgeous Christmas Markets, the most popular one can be found in the central square, with the stalls decorated with painted signs and rooftop lights! The Volksgarten has a good fairground atmosphere with plenty of rides for the children and food and drinks stands!

Wednesday 11 December | After breakfast, we will make our way towards the Hungarian border once more. Our optional full day excursion this time will take us to the capital of Hungary, Budapest. We will start off our excursion by visiting the neo-gothic Parliament building and Heroes’ Square. Then, we will drive up to the Castle District and visit the marvellous Matthias Church (entrance included). We will also see the former Royal Palace and the Fisherman’s Bastion. We will later make our way towards Vörösmarty Square, a lovely plaza in the heart of the city. One can smell the scent of traditional honey cookies, mulled wine and cinnamon. The rich fragrance simply lures you to the market. We can also make our way on foot towards St Stephen’s Basilica around which we can find some other nicely decorated stalls.

Thursday 12 December | Today, we will be driving south for our full-day optional excursion, this time taking us to Graz, the second largest city in Austria. Nestled between medieval buildings or spread out right in front of the festively adorned City Hall, the various stalls beckon with glittering trinkets, local handicrafts, and delicious foods. We will also see the most important sites such as Town Hall, the Schlossberg, the Uhrturn Clock Tower among any others.

Friday 13 December | Our full-day optional excursion today will take us to Mariazell. For centuries, Mariazell has been a spiritual center and favorite destination of pilgrims and vacationers from all over the world. Against the picturesque backdrop of the glorious basilica, in the midst of the wintry mountains of the Mariazell region, it is the magic and tranquility of Advent that rise to the occasion for weekends in December with authentic Christmas customs and regional delicacies to delight adults and children alike!

Saturday 14 December | After checking out of our rooms, we proceed to Vienna airport for our Air Malta flight departing at 10.30am and arriving in Malta at 12.40pm.
