Friday 7th April l We meet at the airport at 5.00am for our Air Malta flight departing at 7.35am and arriving in Rome Fiumicino Airport at 9.00am. On our arrival and by private coach, we will visit the basilica of San Paolo Fuori le Mura, outside the ancient walls of Rome, where there is the tomb of St Paul mayrtr. From there we will cross over to the chapel of Madonna della Rivelazione and then proceed to Abbazia delle Tre Fontani. We then visit the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. Check in at hotel in Rome.
Saturday 08th April : After breakfast we proceed on an excursion to Castelli Romani. This excursion will give us the opportunity to admire the countryside, lakes and small villages outside Rome. We shall visit Lago di Albano, Castel Gandolfo-summer residence of the Pope, Frascati-known for the fine wine bearing the same name, and Rocca di Papa-a picturesque village.
Sunday 09th April : Happy Easter to all. After breakfast we attend the Easter Mass in the Vatican Square. In the afternoon, we visit Tivoli and Villa d'Este, where one can also visit the famous villa and vast gardens (entrance extra).
Monday 10th April : After breakfast, we check out of rooms and depart by private coach towards Assisi - the city of St. Francis. Our first stop will be in Rivotorto, where St. Francis founded his first community, dating back to the 13th century. We will continue our journey by visiting the Basilica of Ponziuncola, where St. Francis died. We will then visit the Basilica of St. Clara where her body is found in the crypt underneath the alter, followed by a visit to St. Francis Basilica where his crypt is situated. We will also be visiting the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore where there is the exposed tomb of the young Carlo Acutis who was beatified on the 10th October 2020. We then proceed to our hotel in Cascia, our base for the last 2 nights. Check in and dinner at hotel.
Tuesday 11th April : Breakfast followed by a full day excursion to Loreto, a Sacred Marian Place visited by many pilgrims. Here we will visit the Basilica where there are the remains from the Virgin Mary’s house and the statue of the Black Madonna. Dinner at hotel.
Wednesday 12th April : Breakfast and then we visit the interesting places of Cascia, namely the Basilica and the convent where St. Rita lived as a nun. The intact body of this saint attracts many people all year round. We will also visit the sanctuary of the Holy Eucharist miracle. We then start our journey back to Rome where we will stop in a large shopping complex for some shopping. At 21.10 we depart on an Air Malta flight arriving in Malta at 22.35.
